I have met some of the most beautiful older people in my career.
The world is full of all kinds. It is not any different for older people. I always have embraced the old adage that it takes all kinds of people to make the world go round.
I have been privileged to be let into so many lives.
The vegetarians, writers, gardeners, teachers, nurses, factory workers, bus drivers, mothers and fathers.
The happiest older people I have ever met had one thing in common. They had always enjoyed life. The people who had always laughed hardest, enjoying life and their place in it. The ones who appreciated what they had and knew how to share that with others.
One time I helped a pastor write a eulogy. He could not figure out what to say about this woman who had recently passed. It was was hard to shape the words. This woman always laughed and joked. Her whole life was one big…good time. What should I say about her he asked me? What did she do that was worth mentioning or was memorable?
That’s an easy one I answered. She made those around her smile . She shone brightly. She loved life. We were privileged to be in her sunny circle.
life is short.
She wasnt well educated or well travelled. She couldn’t discuss the news or philosophy. But boy could she laugh. And laugh. Whenever you were near her you could feel how positive her energy was. She passed it on.
If you can make just one person smile through your day, you would be but a spark to her huge Shine.
I miss her. That was 25 years ago.🤣
